Scottish Parliament
As both a Parliamentary Assistant and Office Manager for Members of the Scottish Parliament, I have been responsible for all press, communication, social media management and parliamentary engagement for MSPs.
These roles gave me robust skills and detailed, working knowledge of The Scottish Parliament’s procedures and committee structures; experience organising national and local multi-agency press opportunities and photo-calls; and handling various, multi-topic media enquiries. I have been responsible for political strategy, communications and press across national and local media, and financial management in my time at The Scottish Parliament.
Additionally, I have produced multiple, often complex briefings; am experienced in speechwriting and developing speaking notes; have designed and distributed digital marketing graphics and social media templates across multiple platforms.
My roles at The Scottish Parliament built a firm knowledge of The Scottish Parliament committee structure, directly working with the Equalities and Human Rights Committee’s clerks and media team on media opportunities. I also built, and retain, a strong network of cross-sector contacts; from national and local Government, to corporate, media and communications, charity and third sector, representative organisations and advocacy groups for underrepresented communities.
